About This Site
My maiden name is Paula Profilet. My dad was Louis Emile Profilet, about the fifth of that name in the New World.
His ancestor, Louis Emile Profilet, came to New Orleans from Paris in about 1812 or so, and later moved to Natchez. (That’s his portrait up in the header.) He was a silversmith of some renown, and, via the Internet, I was lucky enough to find a piece of his handiwork at an antique dealer’s in Natchez. It’s a real thrill to read the tiny “Profilet” hallmark stamped on the back of the sugar tongs, and know I’m holding a tangible piece of our family’s past.
I want to assemble photos and stories of this family’s history. Please help! If you have photos, documents or just something to add, please use the contact form to get in touch with me.
